Open Hands

Come – and join us for morning tea  at 10am. To join us for a short chat from the bible, come at 9.45am.

Open Hands is our Community Morning Tea and Food Parcels Ministry especially designed to support people in the local area who are finding it hard to make ends meet or who are simply lonely and need to feel the friendship and care of a safe community. Open Hands operates every Wednesday from 10-11.30am – we serve a delicious morning-tea and offer free vegetables (when available to us) and a selection of non-perishable grocery items from our pantry. Sorry – we don’t provide food vouchers.

Open Hands is strongly supported by a local business, the Glen Eira council and other churches. Together we aim to serve the local community and to demonstrate the love of God in a practical way. We are now in our tenth year of operation and Open Hands has been a very successful ministry assisting hundreds of people with valuable support.

We rely on a very loyal and committed team of volunteers who are the back-bone of the work. But we’re always looking for more helpers and so new volunteers are welcome. They typically arrive by 9:00 am at the church on Wednesday mornings and look after setting up the venue, serving food, cleanup and general duties. Many of our volunteers also form great friendships with those that come, sharing in conversations of life and faith.
